This little guys is so sweet! He has the best disposition, but who wouldn't when he gets as many cuddles as he does. Between Mom, Dad and the grandparents he was getting lots of lovin'. I snuck a little in there too! It was so sweet to see them absolutely in head over heals in love with this little guy. And for first time parents, they were so relaxed and easy going. Beautiful family, inside and out. And isn't he just precious. I feel like I can smell newborn baby just looking at these picture.

Seriously, I get to see all these darling children grow up! This little guy was only 3 months old last time I photographed he and his family! Now at 20 months, he is still darling but oh so full of personality. He was such a good boy for our shoot!!! I love when I get to photograph and photograph and photograph again such wonderful families, especially when it feels like were friends!!! I can not wait for our next shoot in December!!

Every year this family comes to Fort Story for a weeks vacation. What a wonderful tradition!! And, I am part of it thanks to Becky Breedlove of Becky Breedlove Photography! It is so much fun to watch these children grow. The oldest had braces and glasses last year and now...contacts and beautiful teeth! They really are 3 gorgeous children and so pleasant! Kerry was one of my very first friends when I moved to VA. Love her. She makes me giggle. Especially when she says carriage! She and her handsome boys are moving back to her hometown of Boston. Boo! This session meant so much to me! I met this cute mama-to-be a while back and never would have thought we would still be in touch. But, we had a bond. We were both pregnant. Things happened and well through the world of facebook we have followed each others journeys and stayed in touch! I am glad I met her. He story, her life, has touched mine. It is so amazing how a complete stranger can affect your life. I am so excited about the little guy they are about to welcome into their family! I just know they will be wonderful parents! What a fun family! Grandparents to grandkids they were all full of life and love for one another! These kids are lucky to have these grandparents that obviously love them so much and I bet are amazing grandparents. There is something so special about grandparents! I dont know what it is exactly but it is something...actually it is EVERYTHING!!! Matter of a fact, I want a family portrait of my family - grandparents to grandchildren - next time I am home! A must do. These children were adorable! So excited and happy until the wind picked up and the temps dropped. That is when we began to struggle. All of us. It was some seriosly cold wind. My third time photographing these adorable children! I am so lucky! It was freezing cold and windy so we ran in and out to keep the kids warm and happy! There were perfect! I have never ever had a 2 year old follow directions like this little guy! I mean really...what 2 year old does what you tell him? This one does...
Dad is deployed and I did not mention Dad as I did not want any sad faces but when I asked this darling 4 year old to say Mommy, Candy, Money, etc... She got all excited and said Daddy and then told me all about how her Daddy will be home for Christmas! The joy in her voice, her expressions and her words would have melted her Daddy's heart! That will be her best Christmas gift for sure! Makes you stop and realize what matters most, not just to us adults but to the children too. My fingers and nose was cold but my heart was very warm. Mom, you are doing a great job!

These kids have the most amazing eyes! You know when you go South and the water turns crystal blue? Yes I mean WAY south like to the Bahamas?? And it is just so breathtakingly beautiful? Their eyes are the same way! They are so crystal blue that they are hard not to look at! And, they got it honest! This is one beautiful blue eyed family and hands down one of my favorites to photograph!

Meet Haleigh! She is tiny and precious and totally loves to suck on her hand. It was so weird holding her and feeling how small this 1 week old was to my monster of a 4 week old. She is absolutely darling and I have a feeling is going to give her mommy a run for her money! That is what girls do right? Probably have her daddy wrapped around her little tiny finger from the day they meet. He is currently deployed. When he gets home she will most likely be the size of my newborn! Ha Ha!

Back in Biz-ness

Well my baby boy is here and is a healthy, sweet little guy! Other than lack of sleep the adjustment has been smooth. Sullivan is doing fantastic with him. I am feeling great and so ready to start shooting again.
My calendar is now open for booking in October. I currently have the following dates available:
October 2, 3, 9, 10, 16 and 17
More may open up as I can work more on getting help with the baby. As of now he and hubby will be coming along with me because he likes to eat and I just can't have his milk that far away yet! So...we are going to make things work. I have a wonderful hubby. Some weekdays may open up soon. I do have about 10 families on my waiting list and I am trying to book in order in which I was contacted but, if you spoke with me about a session you need to contact me with a date soon. These will fill up fast.

Have you ever met that person, that family that makes you think? I have been thinking about this family for the last couple of days and trying to figure out just the right word that describes them. Today it hit me, gratitude.
I was fortunate enough to get the opportunity to photograph this beautiful little girl! She was 24 days new and precious! What a gorgeous family this was and I have never met anyone filled with so much gratitude. Gratitude for God's blessing...good and bad. Hearing the stories and getting to know this very special mom made me really think about my own life. It seemed to come so easy for her, gratitude that is, no matter the hard time she has had. Through every story she told me, there was always gratitude. What a blessing to get to meet and talk to someone like this. An amazing family indeed! Hoeltz family, you were a blessing to me! Beautiful Mama, precious big sister

OK, I know this is kind of a tease but, I do not have permission to share these images but I HAD to tell you about it!!! We went to the beach for a maternity shoot with Mom and big sister who is 2. The beach was windy and the water rough but the sun was perfect! Thank goodness for the nice light because after the 2.5 hour drive that should have taken 1 hours I was frustrated!!! Once I got there, saw the light and the family, all was better! Mama had a cute little belly and a big, beautiful smile! Big sister had on the the cutest pink and green polka dotted outfit and the most beautiful eyes you have ever seen! They were a treat to work with and the images are beautiful! I can not wait to finish their session so they can see!!! Congrats on the little man coming into your family and enjoy every minute of your journey! I hope to photograph the little guy one day! Taking a Break

No not yet but...I am planning to take the months of August and September off to welcome my new little guy into this world. I am due Sept 7th but will be induced a week early so...I am thinking I will be uncomfortable the month of August and healing the month of September. I love photographing my beautiful step daughter Anna, so while on vacation for her Spring Break we got all dolled up and did a shoot. Normally I would not have put all this makeup on this gorgeous 10 year old but she needed pictures to compete in the most photogenic portion of her dance competitions and since they all wear it, so did she. Gave us a glimpse of our future! She going to be a knock out! There will be lots more to come from this session and even a little Twilight fun!!!

I just left there scouting it out and although I did not get to park due to all the student(duh!), just driving around made me so excited about my shoot this weekend. I am photographing 3 soon to be ODU graduates Sunday. There is tons of brick, beautiful trees in bloom, a fountain, a lion, a seal and some great architecture! Check out this beautiful Mommy to Be! These two are going to have a gorgeous bundle of joy! Meagan is a fellow photographer, fellow Navy wife and we both lived in Sicily at the same time. However we did not meet until we were both in this area and went to a photography seminar! When she asked me to do her maternity pictures I will have to say I was a bit nervous but it was a terrific challenge. She has backdrop stands so we played inside and then ventured outside. I actually learned a lot from her, not just from shooting but also from our conversations. I was so excited to see these pictures when I got home and well, I fell in love with a few but 1 is my fav! Can you guess which one? I am so excited for this sweet family to welcome their baby boy soon!

Lets just say, I saved the best for last! I LOVE this last one. Daddy To Be had just finished and put up the crib while we were photographing and they were so excited! It was such a sweet time and Daddy's love for his wife and baby to be was so obvious! Beautiful family!

Well sort of...

I am looking for a military family whose husband/wife is deployed and will be returning sometime between now and May 1, 2010. I am interested in photographing the homecoming of your loved one including the waiting time before, the arrival and a family photo before the happy family goes home! I will provide you with a CD of edited images (30 plus) to print as you wish! I am specifically looking for a family with children but am not limited. Oh and yes, I am doing this as a gift!

Why am I doing this?

I am wanted to say thank you to the military families that sacrifice as their family is split apart for long periods of time. Yes, my husband is in the military but, we have been fortunate that he has not deployed so I say a big thank you to those who have not been so lucky as I. Also, I want to be able to offer this as a service to the military families in the future. I have photographed a homecoming but, I feel before I charge for this service or join opLove, I need some practice at this specific task! My brother in law, John Paul, is an amazing artist. His main passion is pottery. He just landed some of his pots in a sweet little art shop in the upstate S.C. and needed a little flyer to go with it. I was thrilled when they asked me to do it! Plus I had just taken some pictures of his pots over Thanksgiving. It was more of a challenge than I thought it would be but ONLY because I had never done anything like this on photoshop before. I learned though and I am glad I did! I am very proud of how it turned out and now think I could do stuff like this pretty quickly...if I can remember how I did it! ;)

WOW, since Thanksgiving I have been either out of town, sick, had company, freezing, told by Doc I had to rest, sick and now I am starting to get back into the swing of things! I got lots of new toys for Christmas that I can not wait to play with - well I have played some but I want to play more! As soon as we got back from being in S.C. for Christmas and New Years we found out we are expecting! We are thrilled but with that wonderful news has come morning sickness and a few other issues! As the weather warms, or I dream is does, so do my spirits! I look forward to shooting lots this spring and not just my belly growing my my photography as well!
When the Georger's came to visit we did a quick photo shoot of the kiddos! And when I say quick I mean super duper quick as these boys just wanted to play, play, play! Arn't they cute??

Calling all NEWBORNS!!!

My first FOCUS will be newborns. I will be doing sessions for a discounted price of $50. I would love to be able to give you 15-30 pictures of the new addition to your family. This is also a wonderful Christmas gift! This session does not necessarily include other family members but Mom and Dad should be prepared to be in a few pictures as well as any siblings. However, most of the pictures will be of just the new baby. I do allow more time for feedings and diaper changes so please know this session could take up to 4 hours but if we have a sleepy baby who sleeps most of the time, it could be a lot quicker. FOCUS

So, I have been thinking about my focus. Everyone in everything seems to have a focus. An area they are really good at. Doctors, Laywers, Artist, Military, and well even photographers. But what is MY focus??? And, what do I WANT it to be? I am not good at focusingin general, however coffee has been helping the last 3 days. So, I am searching for my focus. I have decided to take the next 3 months to start this search. In January - March I will be offering specials to help me tweak some areas I do not get much practice in, to step out of my comfort zone and to find my focus. My lack of FOCUS could be your savings! I have to tell you this story before you get a preview of this sweet couple. The husband, Rick, is from my home town. He has a twin brother and even though we are a few years apart we knew each other. I have not seen Rick in years, as we were not close friends. I did not know what happened to him or his brother. One day while walking through the commissary in Sicily I saw a guy that looked just like Rick and Eric. I kept telling Mike that he was a Sumter guy I was sure of it. Mike woud say, "Well then why dont you say HI?" I just could not believe a Sumter boy would be in Sicily the same time as we were and I had not seen him in so so long I was not sure. So, I never said a word. Then we left Sicily and as we were walking through the airport in Norfolk, the guy from Sicily walks up to me and says, "Allison? From Sumter right?" It was him the entire time! It was Rick from Sumter and now he was stationed in Norfolk, like us. It was just weird. I guess Sumter people are the ones who will understand the weirdness of this. Anyway, we became facebook friends (I {heart} facebook) and he ended up asking me to photograph he and his wife! Lucky me! It was a wonderful shoot at such a sweet place. They are such a sweet couple, laughing and grinning at each other the entire time. I am serious when I say they could not look at each other with out smiling or giggling like school kids in love. Such a treat to see two people so in love. So, check out this beautiful couple!

So, I was thinking of my plan this week, my plan for my business. I was thinking about all the things that I need to do and decide upon such as my logo, a website, a printing lab and ways to keep learning more and more and more. Met this beautiful family at the Chesapeake Aboratum for a family shoot last night and let me tell you they were precious. All three children were stinking adorable and sweet to boot! I can only imagine that the dynamics of this family are amazing. Dad was so involved and you could just feel that Mom and Dad were so in love and were so proud of their sweet little family. They were a pleasure to hang out with and I hope to do it again sometime. The unfortunate part of our shoot is that we lost light super duper fast. I guess this means I need to start shooting earlier. So, check out the "B" family preview!

I am leaving VA tomorrow and will be away from my computer for about 12 days! I may go CRAZY!!! I will however not be away from my camera! I have 2 photoshoots scheduled and hope to do a couple more! :) Otherwise I will be helping a bestie welcome her new baby into this wonderful world and photographing as much as I can and celebrating a birthday with another bestie! I cant wait. It will be a fun yet crazy time! I also get to see my family on the way down and on the way back. Yeah for friends and family! I will play crazy catch up when I get back. Wow September was fun! I have so much to finish up on and am leaving Saturday to go visit some of my besties for a week! So, if you do not have your pictures yet, I am working very hard to get them finished before I leave but....it may very well not happen. I will work even harder when I get back. I promise! I was so blessed to have a busy September and it was such a great time with a lot of wonderful people! My goal was to have my business up and running by Oct 1, 2009 and well...I did it!!! Unfortunatly my promo price of $60 has expired but for the rest of the year I will be offering portrait sessions for $100. This includeds a 1-2 hour portrait session at a location of your choice and a CD with 20-30 edited images that you can print as you wish. I typically shoot 2 hours before sundown but can be flexible depending on the location. I look forward to photograph you and your family and am so excited about what is to come!!!

Oh she was sweet as pie! I bet her mama is laughing reading this! She actually was such a doll baby, a perfect little 2 year old...with out a nap! She has such a great time running all around and away from us! Took me straight back to when mine was 2. I forgot how independant they are.

Seriously though she was a sweetie, a joy to photograph! Even held my hand as we walked to her car and let me put her in her car seat! It was so sweet how she warmed up to me. This is one shoot that makes me chuckle. I bet her mama was exhausted after we were finished. We did get some good shots. Check out this darling little thing...

They just moved into a new house and Kimmie wanted to put up some family pictures but...she did not have any of her neice and felt bad putting up her kids and not this sweet little girl. The "A" family was vacationing at Cape Henry on Fort Story and contacted Becky to have a family shoot while they were here. Being busy in the process of building a home and moving, Becky sent them to me! Thank you Becky! I was thrilled and even more so once I met them. This family was not only beautiful but so much fun. One of the girls even wants to be a photographer. The girls were not only sisters but friends and sometimes I felt like they should be on a Hallmark card for sisters! Ryan was a little ham and you could see in Mom and Dad eyes how much they love their children and each other. This was a fabulous shoot with beautiful weather, dolphins playing so close and well dressed kids squealing, twirling, digging and running in delight!

So, to give you a little information about my sessions. I am a natural light photographer. That means I shoot mostly outside or inside in places where the sun is providing apple shine! I love the beach but am not limited to the beach. I am actually in search of a rustic farm right now. My sessions usually last 1-1 1/2 hours but I am willing to take the time we need, as long as we have ample light. I do understand that things happen and people get cranky, especially toddlers. I will post a little peek into your session on my blog within 5 days of your shoot and you should have your CD with 20-30 edited images in about 2 weeks depending on my workload. These images are yours and you are free to print as you like. Right now I am not offereing printing services but may do so in the future. If you need help with printing please do not hesitate to give me a call or shoot me an e-mail. I will be happy to help. Currently I am ONLY charging $60 a session. That is my promo price. Unfotunatly prices can not stay that low so they will be going up on October 1, 2009! I plan to always be giving somehow. Wether it be a gift certificate for a raffle benefiting a charity that touches my heart or helping out a military family, I hope to be constantly finding a way to help someone.
